Meet the DaVinci Dental Team
Between them they have more than a century of experience, most of it in Bermuda, and one of them has been at this practice since 1990.
One practice, barely any turnover
When Dr. Maybury acquired DaVinci Dental in 2019 she kept the team she found, and that decision is most of what patients notice. The hygienist who charts your gums this year is the one who charted them five years ago.
Continuity is not a soft benefit in dentistry. A change in a gum measurement, a new wear facet, a filling margin that has started to stain: all of them are only visible against somebody’s memory of what your mouth normally looks like.

In their own words
Every one of these quotes is their own, published in their own words.

Theresa Joy Furbert, OBE
Dental Hygienist
40 years in the dental industry
Community is important to me. After the US base closed down, and with it, its 150 chair dental clinic, I sought permission to create a dental clinic for Extended Care Unit patients at the KEMH. It was my baby, I built it from scratch, and knew every pipe and water line because I engineered it. I joined Dr. Vincent Bridgewater, the founder of Davinci Dental, in 1990 and he accepted my request to serve as overseer of my clinic. I was later honoured with a Queen’s Honour for my work as the first Black Bermudian to found a dental clinic at the hospital.

Carrie Woolridge
Dental Hygienist
31 years in the dental industry, Canada and Bermuda
I always tell my patients on their terms, that the mouth is the gateway to the whole body. If your mouth isn’t healthy then neither is your body. If you have unhealthy gums and mouth, it can lead to problems with your heart, or even diabetes. Dental health is the first step in taking care of your overall general health.

Letitia Tucker
Hygiene Coordinator and Floater
20 years and more in the dental industry, Bermuda and the USA
I wish people understood that they should take their mouth seriously. Bacteria left to fester in the mouth, can lead to illness. Your dental appointments are just as important as getting a checkup at the doctor.

Crystal Wales
Front Desk Coordinator
16 years in the dental industry
While my role is technically administrative, my position outside of the waiting room gives me another important role. Some first-time patients arrive fearful and anxious and imagine ordinary procedures to be the worst thing ever. I can reassure them that everything will be ok. I try to encourage them to keep their 6-month recall appointments so that toothache appointments don’t have to happen.

Dr. Aleesha M. Maybury, DDS
Dentist and Owner
Bermuda dental licence DEN 158
Because of my hygiene background, I am a firm believer in preventive and comprehensive care. Your oral health is directly related to many other conditions in the body.

Shantonia Ratteray
Dental Assistant
7 years in the dental industry
My job is to ensure everything the dentist requires is set up for each patient. Preparation is a critical part of the job. I am responsible for sterilizing the instruments, disinfecting all surfaces and fogging the room with hypochlorous acid to get rid of airborne pathogens. I also do invisalign scans and take impressions for dentures. I always encourage invisalign patients to make the most of the awesome invisalign technology by supporting the process with consistent home care.

Who you see, and when
Most visits involve more than one person, and it helps to know who does what before you arrive.
Crystal, at the front desk
Booking, insurance, and the person to tell if you are nervous. Sixteen years of settling people down before they get anywhere near a chair.
Theresa, Carrie or Letitia, for hygiene
Gum charting, scaling, home care coaching and the long view of how your mouth is changing over the years.
Dr. Maybury, for examinations and treatment
Examinations, plans, restorative work, implants and Invisalign, with Shantonia assisting and preparing the room.
What the team is proud of
Each of these is something one of them raised first, unprompted.
A clinic built from scratch
Theresa sought permission to create a dental clinic for Extended Care Unit patients at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, and engineered it herself.
A Queen’s Honour
Recognising her work as the first Black Bermudian to found a dental clinic at the hospital.
The mouth as the gateway
Carrie explains the link between gum health, heart disease and diabetes to every patient she sees, on their own terms.
Talking people down
Crystal treats reassuring first-time patients as part of the job rather than a courtesy.
The room, properly prepared
Shantonia sterilises instruments, disinfects surfaces and fogs the room with hypochlorous acid between patients.
The six-month recall
The whole team pushes it, for the same reason: a recall appointment is cheaper and shorter than a toothache appointment.
Why the same faces matter
A practice where the team changes every eighteen months cannot offer continuity, whatever it says on the website. This one can, and it is the single clearest thing about it.
-
01
Your history is in somebody’s head, not only in a file
That is how a small change gets noticed rather than being read as your normal.
-
02
Advice lands because it is personal
A hygienist who knows you drink four coffees a day gives you different advice from one reading a leaflet.
-
03
Families are known as families
When three people in a household share a pattern, somebody here notices it.
-
04
Nervous patients are remembered
You do not have to explain it again at every visit.
About the team
Do not see yours here. Call the practice on 441 292 0107 and ask. Nobody minds the question.
Call 441 292 0107Can I request a particular hygienist?
Yes, and most people do once they have settled with someone. Say so when you book on 441 292 0107 and the front desk will work around their diary.
It may mean waiting a little longer for an appointment, which is usually worth it.
Will I see the same person every time?
Where the diary allows, yes. That continuity is deliberate and it is the main reason the practice keeps its team.
Who do I speak to about insurance?
Crystal at the front desk. She deals with CG Insurance, Argus and BF&M every day. See insurance and payment for what to check first.
Who does the Invisalign scans?
Shantonia does the scans and the impressions for dentures. Dr. Maybury plans and reviews the treatment. See Invisalign.
I am nervous. Who should I tell?
The front desk, when you book. It changes the appointment length and the order of treatment, and it is a completely ordinary thing to say.
